PetLand Pet Hunt!
Social Exposure Group: PetLand Pet Hunt
The purpose of Social Exposures Group is to foster generalization of treatment gains across people, activities, and locations. Counter-conditioning is used to pair an anxiety-provoking expectation (social interaction, talking to community members, talking to store clerks) with a desirable activity (finding and petting animals). The ATSA Therapist will shape nonverbal responding into verbal responding and facilitate peer-to-peer interaction in the community setting with ATSA peers, community members, and store clerks. No travel fee! Register below.
Agenda:
- 3:00pm: Drop off: PetLand, 744 E Boughton Rd, Bolingbrook, IL 60440 - meet at the front entrance of the store
Activity: Child-Directed Interaction activity, followed by the pet hunt exposure task with Verbal-Directed Interaction (peers, clinicians, store staff) and using brave to pet animals.
What to bring: Your brave! (There will be no ordering exposure, but if you and your child want to buy a treat for your pet, it would be a great opportunity for you and your child to do so on your own following the SEG exposure.)
- 4:30pm: Pick up: PetLand, 744 E Boughton Rd, Bolingbrook, IL 60440 - at the front entrance of the store
